What to include

You do not need a bug report. A sentence about what happened is enough to start. But if you have these to hand, they save a round trip:

Please do not send us your notes. We do not need them, and for most problems they do not help. If a specific note is misbehaving, describe it rather than pasting it.

Questions we get most

Does Fly Notes upload my notes?

Not to our servers by default. Notes are stored on your device. Fly Notes sync is off by default on every device, including if you subscribe to Pro — you switch it on per device, after a screen that says what leaves it. When Fly Notes sync is on, your note text and its metadata are encrypted on your device before they go anywhere, and our server stores only ciphertext it cannot decrypt. Audio is never uploaded by sync.

On Apple devices the older iCloud sync keeps working until you turn Fly Notes sync on for that device: it mirrors your notes to your own private iCloud account — Apple's storage rather than ours, never passing through our servers. There, your note text, your category names and shortcuts, and your synced settings are end-to-end encrypted, while bookkeeping details such as dates, flags, colours and the order of your notes are stored as standard iCloud fields. iCloud sync is being retired.

Separately, Ask and cloud transcription send the text or audio that request needs to our server and on to one of our AI providers (currently Google Cloud, Groq, Together AI, DeepInfra, or Anthropic; a retry may go to another of them) — through OpenRouter, Groq, and Anthropic — all under zero-data-retention terms or in safety retention mode. We don't keep that content on our servers, and a provider that receives it doesn't store it either — at most a copy kept only to fix errors, stop abuse, or review safety, and never to train AI. The full account is in the Privacy Policy.

I lost my recovery code. Can you reset it?

No, and that is deliberate. The recovery code is the only thing that can unlock your account's encryption key if you have no device left to pair with. We do not keep a copy, which is precisely what makes your notes unreadable to us — a code we could reset would be a code we could use. It is not the end of the road, though: as long as one device still has sync working, you can add another by pairing the two directly, which does not use the code at all. Open Settings → Sync on the device that works.

Can I get my notes out?

In the desktop app, yes: Settings → Privacy → Export notes writes your whole notebook to a file you keep. Export on iPhone and Android is being built, in the same file format, so the file crosses platforms. In the meantime the notes on an iPhone are included in the iPhone's own iCloud device backup if you have that turned on.

Sync says this device is not part of my account.

That usually means the device has not joined yet rather than that anything is broken. Open Settings → Sync on a device that is already working and pair the new one from there, or enter your recovery code on the new device. Write to us if neither offer appears.

How do I cancel Pro?

In the store you bought it from, not in the app: App Store account settings on Apple devices, or Google Play subscriptions on Android. Cancelling stops the renewal and Pro stays active until the period you paid for ends. We cannot cancel it for you, and we never see your payment details.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Account → Delete Account, in the app. That removes your account record and every encrypted sync record we hold. It does not delete the notes on your device — delete the app for that. You can also ask support@flynotes.app.

Ask got it wrong.

Tell us the question you asked and what you expected. Ask searches only what you have saved and shows the notes it used, so a wrong answer is usually a retrieval problem we can reproduce — and that is the kind of report that actually changes the product.

Privacy, data and legal requests

Access, correction, deletion, or a question about how any of this works: same address, support@flynotes.app. The Privacy Policy says what we hold and why, and the Terms of Use cover plans, limits, and the rest.
